The guardians represents the feminine guardians in my life. The Guardian was made when my mom was put into hospice. I began to think about the connection between mother and child. I channeled Byzantine works with the virgin Mary and child. I wanted to expand that narrative to include the experiences of black people including African Spiritual Religions. Each piece has exaggerated hands that represent the labor black woman endure throughout their lives.

Inspired by the house my grandmother built with her own hands I creates shelter that explore the labor of women.
